On Tuesday, May 21, 2019, The Waterfront Historic Area League (WHALE) presented The Christopher “Chip” Gillespie Revitalization Award to Kilburn Mill At Clark’s Cove.

Kilburn Mill was recognized for its revitalization efforts and creative reuse of the historic 115 year old textile mill. It is now a mixed use commercial, creative and event space.

WHALE noted that Kilburn Mill has been in the spotlight after hosting the New Bedford Whaling Museum’s “Grant Panorama of a Whaling Voyage ’Round the World” from July to October of 2018.

Manager James Murray (pictured above) was there to accept the award on behalf of all building management, staff, tenants and supporters of historic preservation efforts in the City of New Bedford.
